Welcome Bel Aire parents and students!
My name is Paul Devoto, and I am very excited to be teaching 3rd grade at Bel Aire this year! If you are a parent or guardian of a third-grader in my class this year, please take a few minutes to complete the Parent Survey. (For current, up-to-date posts about the happenings of Room C3, please visit our C3 Weekly blog under the Parents section of this website.) (For curriculum updates, click the Monthly Curriculum Updates tab under the Parents section.) I started my teaching journey in Sacramento, CA back in 2003. I spent the next seven years teaching grades five through eight in Sacramento, California. I was fortunate enough to teach in an Apple laptop 1-to-1 environment (every student had a laptop) where I developed programs for both my school and district. Through this integration of technology into the curriculum and classroom innovation, I was selected as an Apple Distinguished Educator (ADE) in 2009. I then spent two years on the ADE Advisory Board, and I since 2010 I have spent summers delivering Apple Professional Development workshops to educators across the United States. Despite these experiences beyond the classroom, I love nothing more than seeing a student's eyes light up when they have one of those "AHA!" moments or when they get caught up in wonder. My wife Sierra and I have a fun bundle of non-stop energy named Noah and the chillest, happiest daughter Savannah (how they are so different, I'll never know). Together, we enjoy time hiking, being in nature, cooking, traveling, banging on things, and spending time with family and friends. Personally, I enjoy photography, video production, and Apple technology in general. I have participated in and helped lead global collaborative projects such as Impossible to Possible (i2p) and Rock Our World. In 2011, I took a leave of absence so my wife and I could follow an opportunity of a lifetime, touring with my friend's band doing video production and social media work. Above is a video I directed, filmed, and produced for Rock Our World.
Two years ago, I piloted an iPad 1-to-1 program in a 5th-grade classroom here at Bel Aire. Last year I joined the 3rd-grade team to roll out our iPad 1-to-1 program. I look forward to working with my new 3rd-grade class and their parents to have the best year ever! Sincerely, Mr. Devoto Contact InformationBel Aire School
