What are Makers?

Picture
Makers are the creator of the world. They include tech enthusiasts, crafters, tinkerers, engineers, artists, musicians, designers, toy-makers and inventors. Whether you know it or not, you are indeed a Maker.

Below are some great resources to begin exploring as you learn the ways of the Maker.

Great websites:
  1. DIY - DIY.org allows you to "Get Skills" and "Be Awesome." We will be creating accounts when we get our school email accounts, so such be aware that if you create a separate account now, you may need to start over.
  2. Instructables - Instructables.com, like DIY.org, helps you create, invent, and have fun!

Maker Faire at Bel Aire!

We are excited to announce our first annual: Bel Aire Maker Faire! We launched this special event with your students last week, but in order to keep momentum going, please visit our new live link dedicated to our Maker Faire. You will find all event details, including the student Registration Form (due Sept. 13).

Please talk with your children about this opportunity. We are excited to see what our Bel Aire community creates for the event. We are also pleased to announce that the event will have food booths and live music for the entire family to enjoy!

The contacts for this event are David Sawyer (dsawyer@reedschools.org) and Lexie Cala (acala@reedschoolsorg), but please encourage your children to discuss details and ideas with their teachers.

We look forward to seeing you all on October 2!

Best,
Lexie Cala & David Sawyer
